History

Fiduciary Capital Management, Inc. (FCM) was founded in 1987 and registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission to be responsive to the desire of a growing number of plan sponsors for discretionary stable value management. Since then, FCM has been dedicated to providing institutional clients with low risk, high performing stable value investment management services, and a spectrum of related services including insurance company credit evaluation, annuity purchases and advisory services incorporating stable value.

With an average of over 20 years of experience, the highly qualified and diversified FCM professional staff recognizes the challenges and complexities that are unique to the stable value market place and is well prepared to assist fiduciaries in fulfilling their responsibilities, particularly in using insurance industry products. High levels of personalized service, dedication, experience, and risk control are distinctive of FCM’s services.

In October of 1998, FCM became an affiliate of Ohio National Financial Services, Inc., an international diversified financial services firm with assets under management of over $34 billion, headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio. This affiliation provides FCM and its clients with the assurance of a well-capitalized parent, providing legal, accounting, investment and compliance resources beyond those of FCM alone.

Peter E. Bowles, CEBS, Founder

Peter Bowles is the founder of Fiduciary Capital Management and has nearly 50 years of diversified pension, investment, trust and investment consulting experience, 28 years of it with FCM. Through 2013, Mr. Bowles served as a Senior Peer Reviewer and chaired FCM’s Investment Committee. Peter has expertise that includes GIC consulting, GIC management, and stable value management. Mr. Bowles graduated from Hamilton College having earned a B.A. in Economics, and from Phillips Exeter Academy. He earned the Wharton School “Certified Employee Benefit Specialist” designation, is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Stable Value Investment Association, and the Profit Sharing/401(k) Council of America’s Communications Committee. Mr. Bowles has been a periodic commentator in the trade press and speaker at industry seminars.

Sandra A. Costa, Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager

Sandra Costa has been with Fiduciary Capital Management, Inc. since 1998. For over 10 years Sandra has been responsible for the portfolio management and client relationships for $350 million in stable value assets and is also a member of Fiduciary Capital Management’s Investment Committee. Prior to becoming a Portfolio Manager, Sandra was an Assistant Portfolio Manager at Fiduciary Capital Management, Inc. and was responsible for all operational aspects of the portfolios, including reporting, investment analysis, coordinating trades, monitoring cash flow and conducting all day to day activity. Sandra earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Post University in 1998.

Wayne Gates, CFA, President & Chief Investment Officer

Wayne Gates joined FCM in November 2012 and has more than 37 years of diversified pension and investment experience.  He serves as chair of the FCM Investment Committee. He is an investment professional with general management, investment and product management experience in both defined benefit and defined contribution plan products.  His expertise includes designing and implementing strategies to incorporate fixed income analytics, immunization techniques, asset-liability management and other liability driven investment solutions.  Prior to joining FCM, he spent 34 years at John Hancock Financial Services in Boston, MA. There, he was Vice President responsible for investment and product management of all John Hancock’s stable value investments and products. He served two consecutive terms on the board of the Stable Value Investment Association (SVIA), chairing the Data Research and the Mission and Environment Committees.  He earned a BA from Salem State University, an MA in economics from Boston College and three professional designations as a Chartered Financial Analyst, Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor and Qualified Plan Financial Consultant.  He has professional memberships in the Hartford Security Analysts Society, CFA Institute, and the Retirement Income Industry Association.  He served on the Board of Trustees of Salem State University and is the past chair of its Investment Committee.

Robert J. McEvitt, Executive Vice President and Portfolio Manager

Robert McEvitt has over 39 years of investment experience, 20 years of it with FCM, and is responsible for the investment of client assets, reporting, client relations, and accounting for certain discretionary portfolios. He serves as a member of the FCM Investment Committee. Mr. McEvitt was previously with The Travelers Insurance Co. Asset Management and Pension Services Department, where he served as Assistant Director of Account Management, Assistant Director of Group Pension Underwriting, and as a Manager in Contract/Legal and Regulatory Affairs. Mr. McEvitt is a graduate of Union College, NY having earned a B.A. in English.

David J. Molin, CFA, Senior Vice President and Director of Research

David Molin has over 23 years of financial industry experience, including over 15 years with FCM. Mr. Molin’s responsibilities include the management of FCM’s proprietary credit assessment process; oversight of fixed income sub-advisors; new product research including the identification of relative value opportunities amongst traditional and synthetic stable value products; and firm-wide enterprise risk management. He is a member of the FCM Investment Committee and actively contributes to the investment decisions made on behalf of FCM clients. Mr. Molin previously served with FleetBoston Financial as an Audit Supervisor, and the FDIC as a Commissioned Bank Examiner. He graduated from Bentley University, having earned a B.S. degree in Finance and has attained his Chartered Financial Analyst designation from the CFA Institute. Mr. Molin is also a member of the Hartford CFA Society.

Kristine M. Pavelchak, Senior Assistant Portfolio Manager and Research Assistant.

Kristine Pavelchak has 14 years of investment experience, including 10 years with FCM. She works closely in support of Ms. Costa and Messrs. McEvitt and Molin and participates in FCM Investment Committee meetings. ING Investment Management previously employed Ms. Pavelchak in their investment department. She graduated from the University of Connecticut with a B.S. in Business Administration.
